Here is a fascinating article about researching the life of Jackie Ormes for a new book that has been released. Ormes was a 20th century black female comic strip artist. She was part of the black social elite and drew cartoons that were cute, funny, and picked fun at the establishment of the times. She is an insanely compelling figure to me and the book is an amazing look in to the alternate dimension of pre-segregation black America.
